This morning, our Year 5 children were delighted to welcome Mr McGlinchey, Headteacher of St Gregory’s, and Miss Dolphin for a special visit focused on helping them prepare for the transition to high school.

During the session, the children learned more about life at High School and at St Gregory’s itself, from classroom routines and new subjects to the strong sense of community the school is proud of. The opportunity to hear directly from senior staff helped to ease many of the pupils’ worries and made the move to high school feel far less daunting. Many children commented afterwards that they now feel more confident and excited about what lies ahead.

Our pupils also had the chance to ask thoughtful questions about starting Year 7, making new friends, and what their first few weeks might look like. Mr McGlinchey and Miss Dolphin answered each question with warmth and reassurance, helping the children feel much more settled about the transition.

We are extremely grateful to both visitors for taking time out of their very busy schedules to spend the morning with us. Their support, encouragement and genuine care for the children made a real difference, and we appreciate the strong link we continue to share with St Gregory’s.
