With all the concerns over the coronavirus outbreak and how this might impact schools and your child’s learning, we wanted to offer you some ideas to help you continue their education during any potential school closures.
We also appreciate that keeping children engaged in their learning whilst at home is not going to be easy and so we have provided links to a range of content for your child that can be completed independently or with adult support.
For independent learning and games, we recommend using Classroom Secrets Kids. Packed with fun and engaging content, this online learning platform will guarantee to keep your child learning independently. Parents will need to register and create a free account for each child in the household before accessing these resources. Registration is easy and explained clearly on the site.
In the event of a school closure, staff will update this page with daily activities to complete. If this page is not updated, please refer to the class packs above.
If your child does not have login details for any of the online resources, as sent out in home learning books because they have been off, please email the class teacher for details.

Goodbye and Good Luck!
Well Year Three, it has certainly been a Year to remember! You are all superstars and we have loved being your teachers, in person and online.
We are finishing this Year not in the way we would have wanted but nevertheless we want to say you will be just fine in Year Four and we will be nearby if you need us!
We have put on some summer activity booklets and some transition to Year Four worksheets and information on our page below. You may want to have a look at these over the next few weeks.( In case you are missing our home learning!)
We would encourage you to remember our five ways to well being:
1) Be Positive
2) Stay Active
3) Keep Learning
4) Connect with others (safely)
5) Give Back - do something nice for someone else.
Take care everyone - we will miss you!

Today is the day that your Year 3 end of year report is sent home. We thought for your final formal home learning task you could write a report on your teacher! The titles we use to write your report is 'The Person' and 'The learner'. Why don't you change them to 'The Person', 'The Teacher'. What do you know about Mrs Murray and Mrs McGregor? What do we like? Is there anything we don't like?
Have fun writing the reports and please email them to us to read!

We would love to see your work. Share with us via email.
Design and Technology - making a shaduf.
This activity can be adapted from a simple model to a more complex one. The powerpoint shows a simple model to make. The instructions sheet a slightly more complex model. The instructions for the shaduf include using a saw to cut dowel. This is not essential to the success of the model. Any sticks of a similar length will do.
Have fun with the task and send any pictures of your models to your teacher so we can share them on our class page!

English - Friday 3rd July
We would like you to write a diary entry for each year you have been at school. For example, what can you remember from your time in Reception class? Who was your teacher? Who was in your class? Did you have a favourite game to play?
Then move onto Year 1. Do you have any memories about your time in this year? Continue up until this year. What has been memorable about this year?
Please feel free to email us your work as we would love to read about your memories.
Good luck!
English - Wednesday 1st July 2020
To describe a characters emotions.
Look at the pictures from our key text The Matchbox Diary (feel free to listen to the full story again from the link below). You can see her Grandfather sat on a step taking an olive stone from his mother. Can you describe the thoughts and feelings for either her grandfather or his mother.
I have attached a link to BBC Bitesize - Creating characters to help if you need it for ideas.
Please email us with your descriptions! Good luck.
The first experiment on the sheet is 'How to make an egg float'. There are two others that you could also try. Mrs Murray did these eggsperiments with her POD last week and the children really enjoyed it!

A shell structure is something which protects another object such as a green house protects plants, a photo frame protects photos, a waterproof coat protects your clothes etc. There are many shell structures in nature - a hermit crab in a seashell, a snail's shell, seeds inside fruit etc
We would love to see your green house designs when you have completed this mini project! Please feel free to send in a photo on email and show us what you have made.
The children in school made some self watering plant containers before the learning break - they are growing potatoes in our school garden. They used some plastic drinks bottles - great recycling!
Welcome Back Year Three!
After our break from home learning for a couple of weeks we are looking forward to the next few weeks of activities to help you prepare for Year Four! Enjoy!!

We would like you to write a diary explaining what is happening in the world right now and how it makes you feel. This links with the PHSE work that Westie is helping us with this week and will become part of a time capsule that we are collating to bury on the school grounds. The hope is that in the future, the children can read about this unprecedented time and we can help them to understand what it was like.
Can you think of anything else we could put into the time capsule? We would love to hear your ideas and thoughts about our lockdown. Perhaps you have drawn rainbows and you would like us to include that?
We have already come to the end of the first Summer term and hope you enjoy your half term break. We’ll be back in two weeks, eager to read your diary entries and hear your ideas for the time capsule. Most of all though, we just want you to go and have fun! |
We have set a new ROCK BATTLE on Times Tables Rockstars. The children who were in school this week have asked for another Class Seven versus Class Eight tournament. They would like everyone to join in and make this challenge even more epic than the last one. Class Eight Children were really keen to even the score as Class Seven won bu just a few points last time.
So get Battling! We will keep you updated with the leader board over the next week on the classes page of the website.

May the 12th is International Nurses day. It is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale who was a very special nurse who helped soldiers in the Crimean War. She was known as the "Lady with the lamp" as she carried it around whilst checking on her patients at night time.
This year to mark the occasion, people have been asked to "Shine a light" from their window at 8pm to remember all the nurses who have helped people in the past and also right now as part of the NHS.
We hope you enjoy learning about her today.
